Cannot go on the lake without fishing license and pole - and fees. Lots of fees. The $2 listed on this site is only partial. They seem to find a way to charge for everything here. I cannot stress enough that you cannot take so much as a canoe out on this lake if you are not fishing. The park employees will insult and degrade you for attempting to do anything other than fish on this lake. Avoid this area if at all poissible.

Pretty lake with walking trail. Park supervisor was extremely rude. If you have anything in mind other than fishing, stay clear of this lake. If you are not fishing, you are an annoyance and will be dealt with by the uneducated staff. Because fishing is their only apparent source of income, the fees are exorbitant and the rewards simply not worth it. They boast large fish on the website but I have never heard of anything being caught there that was anything bigger than entertainment for a child – and a +$30.00 it’s definitely not worth it. Anything you can think of to do at this lake besides sitting on a bench or walking the trail has a costly fee attached to it, and the “Sam Dale” park portion of the lake is constantly chained off and inaccessible. If you choose to visit this lake, you will probably leave disappointed and most likely be upset with the staff. Welcome to Ozark, Alabama!!
